The NEA Black Caucus Leadership Conference is scheduled to take place in Montgomery, Alabama, from June 19 to June 21. Montgomery holds great significance in Civil Rights history due to its role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This pivotal boycott began in December 1955, sparked by the arrest of Rosa Parks for refusing to give up her seat on a city bus. The protest, which lasted for a full year, challenged the segregation laws on public buses and was led by influential leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. Ultimately, the boycott concluded with a landmark Supreme Court ruling that declared bus segregation unconstitutional and illegal.
Registration for the conference is forthcoming.
The hotel room block is now open. PLEASE use the room block to book your room. Using a third party company causes the caucus to pay the hotel for unused room not booked via the room block.
